The concept of solitons has been successfully utilized in optical communications to handle signal distortion. In this light, the present work explores a signal-oriented perspective of solitons, where it is seen that the impulse responses of semiconductor devices such as PN-diodes and MOSFETs are obtained as solitons. Consequently, a simple circuit involving a single MOS inverter to generate a train of solitons from a sinusoidal input is proposed, designed and implemented in both TCAD Virtual Fabrication and Hardware levels. Following this, the free space optic transmissions of solitons are compared with square and sine wave signals, and it is seen that solitons are able to propagate longer distances with lesser attenuation values. Finally, a soliton free space optic AM communication system is designed and demonstrated in hardware level. The extreme simplicity of the soliton generator circuit owing to its ubiquity, coupled with the longer ranges and lower attenuation values obtained for soliton free space optic transmission forms the novelty of the present work, ultimately leading to next-gen applications such as LiFi. Dissipative solitons have successfully emerged as robust information carriers in optics and nanophotonics. In this work, we explore the nonlinearities arising due to processes and geometry in a 32nm CMOS technology to generate dissipative solitons with extremely simple circuitry. Deep submicron VLSI design and SPICE simulations are done using MicroWind followed by nonlinear data analysis. Finally the generated dissipative solitons are used as carriers in a prototype communication system. The dissipative solitons generated enable state-of-the-art CMOS technologies to relish some of the successes enjoyed by ultrafast nonlinear optical technology. Category: Classical Physics
The concept of solitons has been successfully utilized in optical communications to handle signal distortion. In this light, the present work explores modulation using soliton carriers and subsequently, prototype wireless communication system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Mutiplexing (OFDM) and Code Division Multiplexing (CDMA) at 11GHz involving Additive White Gaussian Noise Channel is implemented using LabVIEW. The performance of Soliton carriers are compared with sinusoidal counterparts using eye diagrams. The low distortion values observed for solitons form the novelty of the present work. NASA programme Apollo landed men on the Moon and returned them safely to Earth. In support of their achievements NASA presented, among others, two pieces ofevidence which are subject of this report, namely, the photographs of the Apollo 11 landing site; and, the video-recording of the Apollo 17 lift-off.Starting from post-landing NASA documents, the Apollo 11 landing sequence is proposed in whichthe Lunar Module cruises at the height of the Lunar Surface SensingProbes (LSSP, some $1.7$m above the ground) for as much as ten seconds before touchdown, and it is the -Y/Left and +Y/Right landing gears that touched the surfrace first. This is then compared to pre-landing NASA experimental investigation,% of landing gear performance in simulated lunar conditionsaccording to which the deformation energy$\mboxDE \gsimeq \mboxKE$, the impact kinetic energy, while the potentialenergy from settling is the smallest, $\mboxPE \ll \mboxKE$;and that the one or two gears touching the surface first, absorb most of KE.Contrary to expectations, NASA reported that -Z/Aft landing gear absorbed as much energyas all the other gears combined, and that $\mboxDE \simeq \frac12\,\mboxKE$.It is shown that this outcome is consistent with the dry Lunar Module being loweredto an uneven surface at near-zero vertical velocity and then released to settle downin Earth-like gravity.Next, we examine the behavior of the LSSPs in the 360\degyaw thatthe Apollo 11 Lunar Module performed during the Inspectionand Separation Stage in the lunar circular orbit.Contrary to NASA's own reference drawings of the fully deployed LSSPs,we find that during the maneuver the LSSPs are always flexed mildly-inwards,as if the Lunar Module were suspended in the presence of gravity, and not weightlessin the lunar orbit.Lastly, detailed analysis of the Apollo 17 lift-off video recording is presented. It is shown that the vessel trajectory implies an additional propulsion inform of an explosion, while the video frames flicker at 5Hz and 10Hz rate andcarry an artefact strongly resembling an edge of film stock. An analysis of illumination of the ascending Lunar Module is also presented, whichsuggests that the vessel is approaching near-by light source rather then being lit by the Sun (at infinity).A discussion of the entire scene follows, and an explanation for the explosion is proposed.Overall, it is concluded that the photographs and the video recording depictscenes that were staged here on Earth, rather then on the way to the Moon. In the present article conclusions and results of author's research of bases of the nature are presented. Results are presented in the form of the list of the solved issues and problems of the world outlook, philosophy, natural sciences, physics and cosmology. The decision of all these questions and problems is found on the platform of the scientific dialectical materialist understanding of the nature and the world surrounding us. The full pre-award explanations are given. Category: Classical Physics
It is shown that the paper `Gravitation without a principle of equivalence' by American Astrophysicist Robert Dicke (1916-1997) contains a simple, but consequential, technical mistake. The purpose of this comment however is not to blame Dicke, but to bring to mind the intriguing idea exposed in his article. The cosmology proposed by Dicke would have been in full agreement with Dirac's Large Number Hypothesis, had Dicke not gone astray at that decisive step. Instead of igniting the dispute with Dirac that followed (R. Dicke, Nature 192 (1961), p. 440; P. A. M. Dirac, Nature 192 (1961) p.441), the two researchers could have joined forces in creating an alternative cosmology that incorporated Mach's principle. Category: Relativity and Cosmology
AbstractThe homogeneity symmetry is re-examined and shown to be non-unitary, with no requirement for the imaginary unit. This removes symmetry, as reason, for imposing unitarity (or self-adjointness) -- by Postulate. The work here is part of a project researching logical independence in quantum mathematics, for the purpose of advancing a full and complete theory of quantum randomness.Keywordsfoundations of quantum theory, quantum physics, quantum mechanics, wave mechanics, Canonical Commutation Relation, symmetry, homogeneity of space, unitary, non-unitary, unitarity, mathematical logic, formal system, elementary algebra, information, axioms, mathematical propositions, logical independence, quantum indeterminacy, quantum randomness.
